AGE GROUPS & EVENTS

As per the prescribed Gatka Rules and Regulations of WGF and NGAI, there are TWO types of events in one age group namely ; Single Soti and Farrie-Soti which are further divided into Freestyle technique. Each event is played as individually and team event by men and women. A new competitive event have also been added ; ‘Gatka Mixed Event’ in which boy and girl fight with each other in individual as well as team event.
AGE GROUPS :
In all types of official Gatka tournaments/events, Gatkabaaz (players) shall play in the Sub-Junior, Junior and Senior age groups as follows i.e
JUNIOR : Tufang (ਤੁਫੰਗ) : U-17
SENIOR : Sool (ਸੂਲ) : U-19
Saiff (ਸੈਫ) : U-22
Sipar (ਸਿਪਰ) : U-25
Siprar (ਸਿਪਰਾਰ) : U-28
AMATEUR : 28-35, 35-40
VETERAN : U- 40 : U-45, U-55, U-65, U-75

GATKA EVENTS (for men & women)

Gatka Soti (Freestyle Technique) :
(a) Individual – one to one fight
(b) Team Event – 3 players and one substitute
(c) Mixed Individual -one to one fight (Boy and Girl)
(d) Mixed Team Event -3 players and one substitute (2 Boys and 2 Girls)
Farrie-Soti (Freestyle Technique) :
(a) Individual – one to one fight
(b) Team Event – 3 players and one substitute
(c) Mixed Individual -one to one fight (Boy and Girl)
(d) Mixed Team Event -3 players and one extra (2 Boys and 2 Girls)

Note : It is clarified here that Gatka Weapons Demonstration events shall not be played and competed in the Khelo India, National Games, Schools, Colleges and University level sports tournaments. This event shall be played during Virsa Sambhal (Traditional) Gatka tournaments only.
